CSI Legacy Awards

Last month we attend the CSI Legacy Awards held in Pretoria.

It was truly such an honour to have been nominated as one of the top three finalist for the Rising NGO of the year, we give all glory to the Lord our God for blessing us each and every single day.

The CSI Legacy Awards is an annual event that acknowledges the outstanding contributions of individuals and organisations in the corporate social responsibility arena. This year, there were 379 nominations across six categories, with around 63 nominations received in each.

Thank you to all our volunteers, co-ordinators and donors who have supported us over the years. Without your support we would not be able to bless so many children fighting cancer.

Cupcakes of Hope has assisted with more than 10 000 financial requests over the past 10 years, and currently we assist an average of 230 children every month, by alleviating the family’s financial burdens it allows parents to focus on what matters most, and that is taking care of their sick child.

Emotionally, our presence is felt deeply within hospital wards. We don’t just bring cupcakes; we bring moments of joy, of normalcy, in times that are anything but normal.

Since 2021 Cupcakes of Hope has also delivered 7 549 educational care bags to 20 paediatric oncology wards across South Africa. These bags, filled with arts and crafts material, focuses on fine motor skill development as well as helping children cope with the stress and anxiety associated with being in hospital.

Celebrating special milestones is also an important part of what we do. This includes celebrating the last day of treatment, birthday celebrations, and the highlight of the year, the big Christmas celebration. Over the past 10 years, we have delivered more than 1,000 Christmas gifts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. These gifts bring joy and happiness to children battling cancer during the holiday season.

We also collaborate with medical professionals and hospitals to ensure that children with cancer receive the best possible care. We work closely with healthcare providers to identify families in need and provide them with the necessary support. We have also been involved in numerous hospital room make overs, creating a tranquil environment for children to receive their treatment.

Overall, Cupcakes of Hope plays a vital role in helping families cope with the financial and emotional challenges that come with childhood cancer. Through our efforts, we do not only alleviate the financial burden but also provide a sense of hope and support to families in their time of need.

It was truly amazing to attend this event that celebrated people and groups who go above and beyond to make a difference in our communities through corporate social investment.

A huge congratulations to Amanda Blankfield from Empowervate who won in our category, they are such worthy winners and do amazing work amongst our youth.

At the end of the evening, one of our volunteers shared this messaged with us that she had received from her son: “You and that team won ages ago Ma… You win every day you put a smile on a child’s face and bring comfort to a parent or family with what you do..❤️

The win is in the journey, not the destination….🤗

Once again THANK YOU Cupcake Angels, may God bless you all in abundance for all you do to help ‘bake a difference’ in the lives of children fighting cancer.
