THE BAKE BOX INITIATIVE
A sweet way to support children with cancer.
The Bake Box Initiative is a heartwarming, hands-on way for schools and companies to come together and make a real difference in the lives of children fighting cancer.
This collective call to action invites learners, staff, and teams to collect baking ingredients that are donated to our volunteer bakers, lovingly known as Cupcake Angels. These ingredients are then turned into cupcakes that help raise vital funds and spread hope across South Africa.
This initiative was a huge success last year, and by opening registrations earlier, we are giving schools and companies more time to get involved and make an even bigger impact.
How the Bake Box Initiative Works
Once a school or company registers, they will receive a Bake Box Kit.
Learners or employees then collect dry baking ingredients and place them into the Bake Box over a set period of time.
Required ingredients include:
- Flour, cocoa powder, and oil
- Icing sugar and caster sugar
- Sweets for decoration such as Smarties, Gummy Bears, M&M’s, and similar treats
Once the Bake Boxes are full, they are collected by Cupcakes of Hope and transported to our Head Office in Johannesburg. From there, the ingredients are distributed to Cupcake Angels across the country.
These cupcakes are then used at fundraising events nationwide, including National Cupcake Day, Golf Days, Corporate Events, and Parties of Hope.
Every cupcake helps support families of children diagnosed with cancer, turning simple ingredients into hope and meaningful community impact.
Why learners and teams will love it

- It encourages leadership, teamwork, and collaboration as classes or departments manage their own Bake Box together
Important Dates to Know
- Bake Boxes will be delivered from early June
- Final collections will take place at the end of July
- Our main fundraising events run between August and September
