Princess Janique’s Journey: A Story of Courage, Community, and Hope

In 2018, we met a remarkable little girl named Princess Janique, who was just a few months old and already fighting for her life after being diagnosed with Stage 3 Neuroblastoma. Despite undergoing years of treatment, her condition remained critical. Further consultations with international medical teams led to a revised diagnosis: Ganglioneuroma — a rare tumor pressing against her airway, which required her to have a tracheostomy to breathe.

Now, at 7 years old, Janique has just taken one of the biggest steps in her journey — and thanks to your love and support, she is finally home.

A Life-Saving Trip to Memphis

In January 2025, after years of waiting and uncertainty, Janique and her family travelled to Memphis, Tennessee, where a team of world-renowned specialists at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital agreed to perform two high-risk surgeries:

  • January 28: A procedure to close off her right carotid artery, ensuring her brain could rely solely on the left artery for blood supply.
  • January 29: A 21-hour surgery to remove the ganglioneuroma that had threatened her life for so long.

With unwavering faith and the support of a global community, both surgeries were successful.

Her mom, Nadine Mukheibir, shared these heartfelt words:

“After nearly six years of waiting, our courageous Princess Janique finally underwent life-saving surgery in America to remove the ganglioneuroma tumor. A renowned team of specialists came together to perform this complex procedure, something that wasn’t possible here in South Africa. We are so thankful beyond words — please continue to keep Janique in your prayers.”

A Community That Gave More Than Hope

We launched a fundraiser to support Janique’s travel, treatment, and recovery needs, hoping to raise R30,000.

Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, that goal was shattered, and we were able to raise R61,560.00 — more than double what was needed!

This incredible support not only helped ease the financial pressure on Janique’s family but also showed them that they were never alone on this journey.

The Road Ahead

Janique is now back home in South Africa, recovering with courage and strength. Although she recently battled the flu, which delayed the removal of her tracheostomy, she continues to fight bravely. Her upcoming scans and therapy will focus on rebuilding strength — especially in her neck — and supporting her full recovery.

This journey isn’t over yet, but thanks to you, Janique is walking it with renewed hope and a fighting spirit.

Thank You

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every donor, prayer warrior, cupcake seller, and supporter who helped make this miracle possible. Your kindness has changed the course of one little girl’s life — and reminded us all of the power of community.
