2023: A Year In Review

As the year draws to a close and time appears to slip through our fingers, it’s crucial to pause and reflect on some of the countless milestones and victories we’ve achieved.

None of these would have been possible without the invaluable support of the Cupcakes of Hope community.

Join us as we look back on both significant triumphs and smaller victories, cherishing the collective journey we’ve undertaken together.

TOPPER CHALLENGE EVENT

The Annual 3D Cupcake Topper Challenge 2023 emerged as a triumphant celebration of creativity and community spirit. Enthusiastic participants from diverse communities united to craft extraordinary 3D cupcake toppers, transforming our national cupcake fundraiser into a mesmerizing showcase of talent and innovation.  Thank you to Vanessa Broughton and her team for all the hard work in making this challenge possible.

MUGG & BEAN PARTNERSHIP

Since 2012, Mugg & Bean has been a proud supporter of Cupcakes of Hope’s worthy cause. Every year they get involved to help raise awareness and funds for families fighting childhood cancer. Mugg & Bean wants to help kids and families battling childhood cancer create more special memories together. Whether that means more messy kitchens after baking sprees, more victories on the soccer field, more lessons learnt through trial and error or more adventures exploring the neighbourhood. What it all boils down to is giving them more time to be a kid. During September M&B donated R2 for every Giant Muffin sold, but that’s not where the generosity ends, they will keep op donating R1 for ever Giant Muffin sold until next year.

EASTER CARE BAG DRIVE

Thanks to your generous support, we’re thrilled to share that 500 resilient cancer warriors, spending their Easter weekend in the hospital, were uplifted with a touch of joy and fun. A heartfelt thank you goes out to every one of you who contributed your time, resources and love to make this meaningful initiative possible.

NATIONAL CUPCAKE DAY

Cupcakes of Hope is thrilled to announce a triumphant milestone in its fundraising endeavours during the momentous International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, culminating in the spectacular National Cupcake Day celebration on September 30. Thanks to the unwavering commitment and generosity of our co-ordinators and generosity of our supporters, COH achieved a remarkable feat by raising an astounding R2,278,525 during this impactful campaign. Thank you! This is by far the SWEETEST way to help SAVE a life!

MOSSELBAY FUNDRAISER

In the coastal town of Mosselbay, the Pinnacle Point events venue recently played host to a truly heartwarming affair — a fundraiser luncheon in support of Cupcakes of Hope, hosted by Ronél Steyn. Despite the weather proving a little treacherous, the event drew 125 generous souls, united by a common cause — to raise funds for childhood cancer patients and their families. The Mosselbay community showcased its generosity as donations poured in from local businesses. From a thrilling Botelierskop game drive to tempting butcher delights and accommodation vouchers, the support was overwhelming. The community’s spirit truly shone as they rallied around the cause, contributing to a grand total of R146,000.

RECORD MONTH

Last month, we achieved an outstanding milestone by welcoming an unprecedented 45 new patients. Furthermore, we offered financial aid to 241 children, including the youngest recipient—a one-year-old baby girl diagnosed with infant leukaemia

INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY

For over 11 years, each volunteer has played a pivotal role in our charity’s success story. Today, we express heartfelt gratitude to our Cupcake Angels who’ve truly made a difference in the lives of children battling cancer. Your dedication has baked a positive impact in thousands of young lives! Whether creating awareness on National Cupcake Day, hosting fundraisers, cycling the 947 race, packing hospital care bags, delivering gifts, or offering prayers – you are the reason we’re here! Volunteers, you’re selfless angels, embodying love in motion. Thank you for your priceless service.

CHRISTMAS DELIVERIES

Bringing Holiday Cheer to Those in Need: Our Heartfelt Christmas Delivery!

As the holiday season unfolds, it’s been a privilege for our charity to extend a helping hand to numerous kids and their families. This year, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to spread joy and warmth through our Christmas care bags.

In total, we will be distributing 670 care bags packed with Christmas arts and crafts, sweet treats, and delightful activities for these amazing warriors and their families. After all, what’s Christmas without a little tree? Each bag includes a small Christmas tree, symbolizing the spirit of the season.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to some incredible individuals and organizations who made this possible:

Alberton Methodist Church: Your generosity in allowing us to prepare these care bags within your premises and the dedicated support from the amazing volunteers have been instrumental.

Mugg and Bean: Your unwavering support and active involvement in the distribution of care bags have made a significant difference in spreading joy.

Nedbank: Your support has been invaluable, and we’re eagerly looking forward to the time we get to spend together during our deliveries. Thank you!

Charity begins with you Angels: Your specially crafted care bags have added an extra layer of care and warmth to our deliveries.

Fountains of Ihsan: Your generous donation of care bags has touched the hearts of many and made a meaningful impact.
