Paballo’s extraordinary journey commenced on the 20th of April 2019—a day that filled our lives with immeasurable joy as she became our cherished bundle of happiness. Little did we anticipate the profound challenge that awaited us, as September unfolded into a month etched in emotion—the month our beloved Paballo was diagnosed with childhood cancer at the tender age of 17 months.

Amidst the complexities of the tumultuous year 2020 and the global pandemic, subtle signs began to reveal themselves. Paballo’s once-blooming spirit was accompanied by the quiet emergence of physical changes. Initially dismissed as mere bloating, her tummy began to take on a more ominous shape. High fevers, persistent vomiting, and swollen ankles became poignant markers of an underlying concern. Anxious and worried, I took my adorable daughter to the doctor, insisting on tests to decipher the mystery behind these alarming symptoms. Little did I anticipate that this visit would usher in the onset of my worst nightmare.

The doctor’s revelation was delivered with a force that felt paralyzing: “I am sorry, your child has cancer—Stage 3 Adrenal Neuroblastoma.” Disbelief clouded my senses, and my heart sank as the severity of the situation unfolded. While I knew Paballo was unwell, the gravity of a cancer diagnosis surpassed even my darkest fears.

As Paballo’s health deteriorated, the harsh reality of our journey became undeniable. Grappling with a mix of fear and acceptance, I found myself standing at the crossroads of uncertainty. The path ahead was challenging, and I had no choice but to embrace Paballo’s diagnosis, steeling myself for the battles that lay ahead.

Our journey, marked by difficulties beyond words, witnessed Paballo emerging as a source of boundless amazement. Six rounds of chemotherapy, 17 sessions of radiation therapy, and MIBG therapy—each challenge met with unwavering courage. Even as I pen down these words, Paballo, my little Super Woman, continues to confront cancer with the resilience of a true champion.

In the face of adversity, an inspiring moment unfolded during Paballo’s second round of chemotherapy. In a moment of despair, when hope seemed elusive, she fought her second relapse like a true champion—always wearing a smile, even amidst the pain.

Cupcakes of Hope played a pivotal role in our journey, stepping in when we needed it most. They ensured that Paballo never missed a hospital appointment by offering invaluable financial support. Rochelle, with unwavering dedication, provided not just financial assistance but emotional support, consistently inquiring about our check-ups and offering words of encouragement. Cupcakes of Hope became more than a support system; they became a lifeline, ensuring Paballo received the care she needed during this challenging journey.
