The World’s LARGEST Mandela Cake

On the 28th of July Cupcakes of HOPE created the World’s Largest Mandela Cake to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s centennial as well as to celebrate the lives of our little cancer warriors. This 3m tall cake was created by the International Cake Master Winner Dot Klerck and her amazing team of Cupcake Angels… Angelique, Crystal, Jack, Quinzelle, Charmonique as well as 10 year old cancer warrior, Khyla Korb.

This cake weighed more than 750kg and consisted of the following: 1200 eggs, 100kg buttercream, 290kg chocolate, 60kg fondant, 175kg flour and nearly one ton of LOVE… And it took 5 days to complete!

Sandy Cipriano, the founder of Cupcakes of HOPE, says “This has been a very special event today and what made it even more special is that we had Mandela’s Grandchildren here to help celebrate this special day. Mandela said it is in our hands to make a difference in the community, and what we are doing at Cupcakes of HOPE is using our hand to “Bake” a difference in the community. We hope that this event will inspire more people to become Cupcake Angels, this is by far the SWEETEST way to SAVE a life”.

Thank you to all our amazing sponsors and volunteers for making this event possible: Sandton City Shopping Centre, Dot from Eat Cake Party, Hot 91.9FM, The Charl Schwartzel Charity Fund, SPAR, Bakels, Barco, Mugg & Bean, Sugar & Craft, Roman’s Pizza, Hilton Hotel, Blue Planet Design, Realise Product Design, Freedom Stationery, USABCO, SA Greetings, Prestige, Ellies, Level Products, Global Golf 4 Cancer, J&A Eggs and Dithakga Events.
