Dear Cupcake Angels
We were so excited to celebrate Cancer Survivors Day on the 6th of June, a special day to give HOPE to the newly diagnosed, SUPPORT those who are currently on treatment and CELEBRATE those who have beaten cancer. If you would like to honor your special Cancer Hero, make sure to join our #BakeAdifference challenge this month by registering HERE.
So far we have more than 150 Cupcake Angels who will be honoring their special cancer hero, here are a few of our special heroes:
Shani will be baking for her daughter Mihla.
Shani has a beautiful message for her daughter: ”Mihla, you are mommy’s hero! I’m proud of you for wanting to host and manage the fundraiser yourself and tolerate no interference from me. May you provide comfort to parents who have lost children, hope, and motivation to friends who are fighting so hard, and may other survivors rejoice with you over small victories. You are our miracle. A lot of love!’
Gerda will be baking for herself this June:
She has the special message: ”I want to praise the Lord that I’m in remission for 3 years”

HIGHLIGHTS FROM MAY 2021
HOSPITAL VISITS
We were able to deliver much-needed items to the staff and little patients at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in April and May.
We received this special thank you message from Prof Geel:
“On behalf of the children’s cancer unit at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (currently at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital) we would like to thank Cupcakes of HOPE once again for the kind assistance. As you know, we are situated at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital as a fire forced us to evacuate our unit, and we (the patients and staff) have been under a prolonged period of extreme stress.
We would like to thank you for the following items which have contributed immeasurably to the morale of our patients and staff.
1. Microwave for staff
2. Continued financial assistance to patients and families
3. Food items of the staff e.g. coffee, tea, milk, rusks etc.
4. Educational items for patients
And on a personal note, thank you for the coffee for my office – a caffeinated doctor is a happy doctor!”

NURSES DAY
On the 12th of May we celebrated a very special day on our calendar, Nurses Day. This year we were able to spoil 453 nurses from 19 Pediatric Oncology Wards across South Africa with a small gift to show our appreciation for everything they do on a daily basis!

MOTHER’S DAY APRON CAMPAIGN
This year Mother’s Day was all about giving back. We created unique aprons for our special moms that also helped children battling cancer… It was our way of spoiling moms with a touch of sweetness. Thank you to everyone who bought aprons and helped raise much-needed funds for our little patients.

FATHER’S DAY APRONS
To celebrate all our special Dads this month we have just launched our second batch of Father’s Day Aprons.
