15 February International Childhood Cancer Day

To celebrate International Childhood Cancer Day we delivered 40 Activity Blankets of HOPE to patients all across South Africa, we also included a little gift to all their parents.

The idea behind these activity blankets is to keep our little warriors occupied while they are in hospital for long periods of time.

Everything we added onto the activity blanket is suitable for both our younger and older patients.

This special blanket has games like Tic-tac-toe, Snakes & Ladders and Checkers for our little warriors and Four-in-a-Row and Morabaraba for our older patients.

There is a city map with roads and dams where big and old can play with cars, boats and trains that are included with the blanket.

An Emoji mood board helps each warrior say how they are feeling for the day.

The other side of the blanket encourages learning and we have included counting games, numbers, shapes and colors as well as sorting. They can measure with the tape measure and learn their ABC’s. For the older kids they can learn the ABC sign language.

On the pillowcase we have dolls to teach kids about their body parts and they can also dress these dolls with clothing provided.

We are planning to deliver these blankets to all 20 paediatric oncology wards across South Africa. If you would like to contribute towards this project please contact Lori on 0691394930.

Thank you to the Beveridge family for allowing us to honor your little Keiran, #TinyTheMighty, with this project.
