Mandela’s Face Created With More than 5000 Cupcakes
In celebrating Mandela Day, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer built the biggest cupcake mosaic in the Southern Hemisphere. This took place on the 13th of July 2013 at the Fourways Mall in Johannesburg. Thousands of cupcakes (5000) were iced by volunteers and cancer patients. This was an opportunity for some of the cancer beneficiaries to give back and do their 67 minutes for Mandela Day. The cancer warriors started packing the cupcakes on a cupcake mosaic which consisted of 67 rows from left to right, representing Mr Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service to his country.
It was a very busy and hectic morning, but everyone enjoyed themselves and had so much fun in icing the cupcakes. The money raised from selling the cupcakes will be donated to The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust.
A big thank you to our ambassadors IFani; Major League Djz and MsCosmo.
Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer is part of Cupcakes of HOPE, a non-profit company, and their aim is to create awareness and raise funds for children with cancer. They host many events during the year, but the main event is hosting the National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer in September. This is an entirely community-driven project and an amazing event that brings the whole community together for an awesome cause. As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, they distribute leaflets with the Early Cancer Warning Signs.
